Jean, believe me, I’m not saying this because we were once competitors for your congressional seat, but this has got to stop. It’s embarrassing to see you on national TV camping out like a star-struck teenager to get an aisle seat for the State of the Union, then hustling up to President Obama to grab his signature. Please. I don’t recall Rob Portman ever groveling for autographs. Tom Luken reportedly hurled five pound paperweights at his aides but nothing this degrading. You’re supposed to be in DC formulating legislation to reduce the deficit, ease the tax burden and cut red tape, not starting a fan club.
I understand you used the opportunity to pester Obama about a federal loan guarantee for the uranium plant in Piketon, though I doubt that’s high on his checklist. In either case, getting more pork for the district is the kind of self-serving behavior that’s put this country in its worst fiscal hole in history.
Jean, most of us suspect our representatives in Congress aren’t doing anything worthwhile, but please don’t make it so obvious.

Rep. Schmidt’s performance was a duplicate of her previous signature grab during last year’s President Obama speech in the House. Ma-a-ay-b-e-ee that is her attempt at being bi-partisan??
bi partisian ??,,please its politics as usual,,we need new representation
Anita,
Well, in fairness to Jean, she did the same thing when Bush was President; so in that sense, she is bipartisan.
Jean is probably going to sell the signatures. LOL
Post the video! We want video.
Maybe she’s planning to sell the autographs on ebay to offest the deficit?
Perhaps George Soros will bid on them?!
Sharon,
Now that’s the kind of out-of-the-box thinking we need. Jean may be more clever than we’re giving her credit for.
According to Roll Call, Jean is one of the 5 least respected members in congress, ergo she has zero influence and power. She is only one conservative vote in a lopsided impotent voting block that will certainly soon become a strong Republican majority in Novermber. It is almost worth voting her out and voting in a Demoncrat to “cleanse” the seat.
I wish someone would beat her in the primary or that a conservative would run as a Democrat.
Joe,
I assume, despite your last name, that you are not related?
Please no democrats, ,look what we have from the West side. Old Mr. Liberal in fiscal responsible clothing whom strictly votes party line. Good bye Stevie boy Driehaus.
As with all of our elected officials, its how she votes that counts. I’m with her 100% when she votes against the crazy spending that’s going on in Washington. Look to the 1st District to see some embarrassing star-struck voting by a Freshman Congressman.
Mel,
Actually her record has been to vote for one pork project after another, including the GE spare engine that the Air Force has repeatedly said they don’t want.
I am happy that Rep. Schmidt is fighting for the Piketon plant and her constituents. Our governor and senators need to take lessons from her. At least she understands how important the plant is to our local economy and to our national energy needs. Keep up the good work Jean!
Kevin,
You’re right – she is bringing home the bacon. The problem is all the other reps in Congress are doing the same thing for their districts. That helps explain the $1.3 trillion deficit and $56 trillion in unfunded liabilities. If you like the pork, don’t complain about the deficit.
I voted for Krikorian running as an independent last year. May do it even though he’s running as a Democrat this year, and I’m registered as an R. David seems more like me than she. I went to a Campaign For Liberty meeting (Ron Paul’s supporters) and he was there. I was impressed with his knowledge. We’ve exchanged emails a few times.
Got to get past the party thing.
Roger,
I agree about getting past the party thing.
I’m not sure I understand how a loan guarantee is pork. When the administration is throwing billions around just so local gov’ts don’t have to cut employees,(which I disagree with) what’s wrong with providing a loan guarantee for a technology that is critical to our country’s future energy needs. We have been very short-sighted as a nation when it comes to nuclear power. Jean has been consistent in her fight for the Piketon plant. I wish I could say the same for our other southern Ohio and statewide officials.
I noticed that as well as e-mailed Representative Schmidt my disapproval.
